Chair’s Report see attached report of the activities throughout the year.

Regarding the Apple Fest, the general consensus was the event was a success; there were about 48 people involved with the running of the day and a fabulously decorated hall, although it was observed that perhaps there were not as many visitors as in previous years. The overall taking were slightly less than last year at £559.19.

Raffle  Slightly down on the takings.

Pressing Good turnout. Excellent team operating the press and the new tent lay-out worked well, pre-pressing of the juice proved advantageous to keep up with demand throughout the event.

Refreshments Toffee apples not a great seller and made a loss. Lots of helpers and the seating arrangements greatly improved. No donations of cakes and pies, perhaps communication regarding the need for these would be advantageous in the future.

Apple Pie competition Improved labelling has now been produced to show the winning pies, in which category. Good turnout of entries.

Apple Identification  An earlier crop this year meant that not so many apples were brought to the event for identifying.

Morris Dancers and Musical entertainment  Great turn out and great success.

The chairman reported that car parking problems were not an issue this year, just slight access restrictions in parts, therefore a few road cones will be used next year at this point.

Signage for the event The overall opinion as to whether the event was publicised was inconclusive.

Apple Fest Supper B Slaughter raised the issue of bringing back the fish and chip supper immediately after the event. This was agreed by all.

Next Apple Fest will be held on the 7/10/2012 and this will be the tenth anniversary of the Apple fest. Suggestions required for the person to open the anniversary event.

Funds raised Charity supported: the Devon Air Ambulance £100.00. Also possible sound system at the village hall for future Apple Fest events.

Pressing programme general use of the press Hired out 15 times this year, with the public pressing popular in the attended venues.

Bottle washer and bottle filler – not hired so much.

Web site – M Grimshaw has handed over the position to B Slaughter.

Membership and Courses 30 new members, with renewals now due from the original memberships: £5.00 for two years. Membership is increasing and with members joining from further afield. 85 members in total.

Courses have proved very popular; however, not profit-making. Excellent instruction received from the tutor.
