held on November 1st 2016 at the BFS Club

Apologies were received from Kay Lamb, Catherine Adair, Frances Gorringe

Present: Brian Lamb, Peter and Anne Crozier, Richard and Joyce Peden, Colin Trier, Ian Swann, Steve and Dee Rickhard, Mary Sargeant, Frances Howard, Bev Slaughter, Peter and Margaret Nicholson, Alison Howes, Tricia Kent [BFS Club], Shirley Munn

Minutes of the AGM held on 26th Oct 2015. Proposed by Mary S and seconded by Brian that they be accepted as a correct record, all present in agreement.

Chair’s Report Peter thanked members for their help throughout the year.  Communal pressings were not always well attended and people who had booked to partake had often not turned up. The small press was working well and was a good asset to the group.

The summer event, though poorly attended, was greatly enjoyed by those who participated.

Treasurer’s Report was given by Richard; at present bank accounts totalled £4348.12

Membership Secretary’s Report Catherine had given a written report which notes some members had not paid a renewal of membership, at present we have 61 members. Peter and Brian offered to advise and update the listing.

Minutes of the Executive Committee of The Tavy and Tamar Apple Group held on

November 1st 2016 at the BFS Club

Apologies were received from Kay Lamb, Catherine Adair, Frances Gorringe

Present: Brian Lamb, Peter and Anne Crozier, Richard and Joyce Peden, Colin Trier, Ian Swann, Steve and Dee Rickhard, Mary Sargeant, Frances Howard, Bev Slaughter, Peter and Margaret Nicholson, Alison Howes, Tricia Kent [BFS Club], Shirley Munn.

Presses: Colin reported on the activities of the presses, bookings had gone well and the extra pasteurisers were a great asset.

He stressed that it was easier to accept bookings via email so there is a written note to refer to.

Plans were in place to invoice members for press use; hopefully that payment may be made by BACS to save the handling of cheques and cash.

He wished to update the record of litres pressed during the season.

It was gratifying that the hand press had been used at two schools, Buckland Monachorum and Eggbuckland.

It was easier to store the trailer press in Brian’s lower garage following the minor alterations in the Spring.  It is proposed to make a minor adjustment to the small press so it is less heavy to load into cars.

We also need to liaise with all members to make ordering with companies like Vigo more economic re: delivery costs, etc.

Membership:  Peter and Brian have offered to meet with Catherine to update the membership list. Payments are still being received that were due in January.

Wassail: January 7th 2017

A meeting will be held in the Social Club on 12 December at 7.30 to finalise any arrangements for the Wassail

There being no further business the meeting was declared closed.

Minutes of the Tavy and Tamar Apple Group ‘Apple Fest Wash-Up’ meeting held on

1st November 2016 at the BFS Club

Apologies were received from Kay Lamb, Catherine Adair, Frances Gorringe

Present: Brian Lamb, Peter and Anne Crozier, Richard and Joyce Peden, Colin Trier, Ian Swann, Steve and Dee Rickhard, Mary Sargeant, Frances Howard, Bev Slaughter, Peter and Margaret Nicholson, Alison Howes, Tricia Kent [BFS Club], Shirley Munn.

Team members gave a brief resume of activities and the main points were:-

Raffle, not as busy, some people using back entrance missed the raffle table.

Kitchen, plenty of helpers, slow build-up helped.

Good attendance for orchard pruning.

Frances reported 70 varieties of apples on display, thanks also to Chris Groves for his help.

More apples were pressed that previous year and an excellent team involved.

Hand press was good for children to get involved.

Bobbing and shying proceeds increased; Mary S offered to collect small prizes for next year.

James Crowden enjoyed the event; it good to forge links with him.

Mary S reported that if we want TV coverage they require a brief promotional video; this will be looked into.

Once again a good number of visitors had come from the Plymouth area.

Tricia spoke of links with the BFS Club, a Cider Festival had been organised and it was important to share facilities during the day.

Brian thanked all members for their input into yet another successful event.

Finance: Richard reported that the Fest had made a profit of £858.

It was decided to allocate grants to:-

Devon Air Ambulance landing area - £600

Youth2Youth - £100

Local Food Bank - £100

Date of the 2017 Apple Fest will be October 7th
